3 docked for allegedly stealing solar panels

Three people were on Friday brought before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing four solar panels and other equipment valued N3 million.

The defendants, Victor Eniffiok, 23; Collins Ekom, 18; and Samuel Ariyo, 25, are being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Eniffiok, a barber, and Ekom, a security guard, reside at Bariga, while Ariyo resides at Gbagada.

All the defendants, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Mrs. M.O. Tanimola.

The prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 30.

He said the defendants conspired to commit the offences at 10/12 Oke-Owo Shomorin Street, Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos.

Perezi stated that the defendants allegedly broke into a warehouse belonging to Invent Media Ltd., to steal several items.

According to the charge, some of the stolen items include: four pieces of Lemi Solar Panel ‘60w,’ 18 pieces of Littium Batteries ‘255 watts,’ three pieces of rechargeable fans and one pumping machine, valued N3 million.

Perezi said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Tanimola granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

She ordered that the home and office addresses of the sureties must be verified.

She adjourned the case until Sept. 12 for mention.
