2026 WCQ: Zimbabwe deserved better result against Super Eagles – Nakamba

Zimbabwe captain, Marvelous Nakamba has said they didn’t get what they deserve from Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

The Warriors played out a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles in Butare on Sunday.

Baltemar Brito’s men took the lead through Walter Musona in the first half and wasted a number of chances to kill off the game before substitute Kelechi Iheanacho restored parity for the visitors.

Nakamba claimed they were the better side in the game.

“We tried our best as a team; we had so many chances to finish the game, but we couldn’t convert them,” the 29-year-old stated in a short video posted on the official X handle of the Zimbabwe Football Association.

“We just have to keep fighting, believing in ourselves. We are looking forward to the next match. The support has been good from our fans.”

Zimbabwe’s next game in the qualifiers is against Lesotho in June 2024.
