The Zamfara State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said it will screen vehicles and drivers for election duties in the state.
The corps said that the safety and timely delivery of election materials is important for free, fair and credible elections in the state.
This was disclosed on Monday by the State Sector Commander, Mr. Iro Danladi, in Gusau, the state capital.
According to him, there is need for safety and timely delivery of election materials for the conduct of free, fair and credible elections in the country.
“The sector will endeavour and ensure that no vehicle with any technical problem will be engaged in the carriage of either election materials or personnel”, he said.
“And all the drivers carrying election materials will also be tested to prove their capability.
“And the sector will deploy more operatives across the highways to ensure that no unnecessary traffic jam that could result to crashes.”
The sector commander further explained that the corps would provide ambulance services across the state for quick response to any emergency during the general election.
According to him, the operatives of the corps had participated in election security training to expose them to appropriate responses during the polls, in accordance with the law.
