2023 Women’s World Cup: Two teams qualify for Round of 16

Spain has qualified for the knockout rounds of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand,

They booked their spot with a 5-0 thrashing of Zambia in their second Group C fixture on Wednesday.

Teresa Abelleira opened the scoring while Jennifer Hermoso and Alba Redondo scored twice to give Spain their second win at the tournament.

It also assured Japan’s qualification to the round of 16 after they beat Costa Rica 2-0 earlier on Wednesday.

Both Spain and Japan have six points and will face each other for the top spot in the group on Monday.
