2023: Tinubu/Shettima ticket best deal for Nigeria — Abiodun
The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, weekend declared that the presidency of Senator Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima would bring out the best for the country, stressing that the duo when elected would bring on board good governance.
In a statement jssued in Abeokuta on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, Abiodun made this known during the unveiling of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign secretariat at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, tagged ‘IGBEGA 2023’, on Saturday, called on members of the party to work together as a team as the 2023 general election draws closer.
Speaking further, the governor disclosed that the state would be hosting the year 2024 National University Games (NUGA).
“Our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kassim Shettima are the best without a doubt. Both are former governors and lawmakers. They have both implemented programmes that transformed and propelled both states that they governed.
“Today, as we unveil this campaign council, I urge you all to work together as a team even as we sell our programmes and manifestos to the good people of Ogun State, we must work as hard as we did three years and six months ago, we must engage in constructive and issue based campaign in line with the provision of the electoral law and rule of engagement.
“We have bided successfully for the year 2024 National University Games (NUGA), so Ogun State will be hosting the year 2024 National University Games, this is because we place a premium on youth engagement and development as we see sport as a platform for that,” he said.
The state helmsman who also noted that he was confident of winning the forthcoming general election, said that his determination is to win convincingly.
“I don’t have a doubt that we will win this election, I don’t have a doubt about that because we have worked very hard to keep our promises, we have justified that mandate entrusted to us as seen by our people-oriented projects spread across the state.
“My determination is to win, not just to win, but to do so convincingly, I have no doubt that we have chosen that winning team,” he said.
Abiodun while noting that his administration would soon begin the implementation of its E-mobilith and Gas mobility project which will help reduce carbon emissions in the state, also added that the state would begin the laying of new reticulation across the state to replace the old ones laid over fifty years ago.
“We are going to begin the implementation of our E-mobilith and Gas mobility project through which all motorcycles will become powered by batteries and mass transport vehicles powered by gas, this will reduce carbon emissions in our state.
“We also know that water is key to everyone, as an administration, we will prioritize the provision and supply of water supply, we will also be laying new reticulation across the state to replace the old ones laid over fifty years ago.
“At completion, it is our hope that the perennial challenges of water all over the state will be a thing of the past,” he said.
The Governor also disclosed that his administration would be deploying technology for surveillance and crime detection, adding that his administration would also continue to provide necessary incentives and motivation for law enforcement agencies in the state.
Speaking at the event, the grand patron of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress campaign council and former governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba, who noted that the Permanent Voter’s Card is the real vote, said that about five million permanent voter’s cards are yet to be collected in the South West.
The former governor while talking about voter’s education, called for the education of voters in the state through the showcasing of the party emblem.
Chief Osoba while expressing his happiness at the developmental stride of Governor Abiodun across the state, called for the support of everyone to actualise the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dapo Abiodun during the forthcoming general elections.
“This election is at the grassroots, in the South West, we have the highest uncollected PVCs, almost five million, very disgraceful. I want to urge you to come out to ensure that our people go and collect their permanent voter’s cards, the collection of the PVCs is the beginning and end of election.
“For this forthcoming election, the broom is vital in all that we do, because the broom is the symbol you are going to see on the day of election, and not all your fine faces. I am not saying you shouldn’t use your pictures on the posters, let the broom show in our posters, because it is the broom we are voting for.”
The Deputy Grand Patron of the Campaign Council, a former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel, described Governor Abiodun as a master chess player and assured that he alongside others who left their comfort zone in 2019 can’t afford failure and would work to ensure that the governor wins for the second time.
Daniel who also noted that no one can fault the performance of the governor in the last three and half years, said that he has the belief that victory is certain for the governor in 2023.
In his remarks, the Ogun State Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Yemi Sanusi, who admonished all the candidates of the party to buckle up and complement the efforts of the governor, noted that with their support, victory is certain for the party.
A former Deputy Governor of the state and former Director General of the Dapo Abiodun Campaign organisation in the 2019 general election, Segun Adesegun, who spoke on behalf of the Ogun East Senatorial District, described Governor Abiodun as second to none in the state, expressing that the governor would sweep the poll next year.
Speaking on behalf of Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Obadara, while commending the governor for his giant strides in the district, noted that the Ogun Central would do everything to ensure the success of the governor during the forthcoming general elections
Also, Senator Solomon Adeola, while speaking on behalf of the Ogun West Senatorial District, commended the governor for not being partial with the distribution of developmental projects across the state, adding that the district would be delivered 100% for Governor Abiodun.
The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, who spoke on behalf of other members of the House of Assembly, noted that the twenty-six state constituencies would be delivered for Governor Abiodun.
The House of Representative Candidate for Imeko-Afon and Yewa-North Federal Constituency, Gboyega Isiaka who noted that the nine Federal Constituencies would be delivered for the emergence of the governor, opined that he is confident of victory for the party.
Former Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Senatorial candidate of Ogun Central Senatorial District, Afolabi Shuaib Salis, commended the governor for bringing everyone back under one roof through his open door policy, assuring that the district would be delivered for the governor.
In his remarks, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin, who called for unity in the party, also called on sons and daughters of Yorubaland to leave sentiment apart and vote for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.
Folarin while also commending the governor for the love he has for the state, noted that Governor Abiodun is the best deal for the state.
