Scores of women beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP) in Kwara State, on Thursday,  staged a solidarity rally in support of All Progressives Congress (APC)  candidates ahead of Saturday’s presidential/National Assembly and March 11th governorship elections.

The beneficiaries in their numbers promised to vote massively for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the February 25th election and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the 11th March election.

The Focal Person of N-SIP in the State, Dr (Mrs) Rabiat Shehu-Jimoh  who led the rally to the private residence of AbdulRazaq in Surulere area, Ilorin said that, “We, the beneficiaries of the programme in the State, are here to say thank you to the All Progressives Congress (APC) led President Muhammadu Buhari government for giving the masses the privilege to be recognised in the society.

“We also thank Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the good things he has done to the people of the State. It was when he came to power in 2019 that N-SIP and the school feeding programme came to the State. It is because of that that we the cooks of N-SIP programme are here to express our support for his second term bid.

“We are using this forum to recognise and support all APC candidates in this Saturday election and subsequent one.  We are assuring the Governor that we are behind him. Under N-SIP we have two units; they are school feeding and Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT).  The number of beneficiaries under school feeding is 1,167, and 95,665 students are being fed daily through the programme. Under N-GEEP we have about 3,064 beneficiaries and beneficiaries under CCT are 24,324. In N-Power, no fewer than 26,147 have benefitted.”

She added that N-SIP had enabled women in the State to be useful to the society and their family members.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries across the 16 local government areas of the State, Mrs Fatima Ibrahim hailed the APC government at both the federal and state levels for putting smile on the faces of the beneficiaries.

“All of us the beneficiaries are using this occasion to pledge our support for our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola  Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq at the polls,” she said.

Receiving the beneficiaires on behalf of the Governor, deputy director general of the APC Campaign Council in the State, Alh Abdullahi Samari who was supported by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategy, Alh Saadu Salahu and Dr Ghali Alaaya, appreciated the people for their pledge to vote for all APC candidates at all levels during the forthcoming general elections, adding that, “We thank you for showing appreciation to what the Federal Government has done to improve the lives of our women. From the figures above, a lot of the beneficiaries who were hitherto jobless are now  fully engaged.

“We urge you to continue to support the State Government as it strives to bring  more dividends of democracy to the generality of the people, especially women in the State,” Samari said.
