2023 Polls : Anyone coming to rig election should stay away from Benue — Ortom

…Says Politicians create insecurity to rig election

By Titus Atondu, Makurdi

The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has warned politicians and any other person, nursing the intention of rigging the forthcoming 2023 general election to stay away from the state or risk losing their lives.

Ortom also revealed that Benue people are fully mobilized and are ready to resist any form of injustice fashioned to be imposed on them come 2023 polls.

The Governor alleged that politicians create state of insecurity especially in the Northern part of the country to ensure that elections were rigged.

Ortom who gave the warning  shortly after his arrival at the Makurdi Airport from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum meeting in Abuja, while fielding questions from journalists, explained that Nigeria has the capacity to do electronic transmission of election results and any attempt to continue with manual voting, means the denial of voters right to exercise their franchise and be counted.

“I think as a country we have come of age and we cannot go back to analog world  when the whole world is going digital. Mr. President must have a rethink about this. I want to advice him not to sign the amendment without electronic transmission.

“For us here in  Benue State, we are be fully mobilized, anyone that may comes to rig 2023 election in Benue , should say his last prayer. You cannot rig where we are in the majority. It is impossible,” Ortom maintained.

On the E-registration of PDP members, he said it will go a long way to entrench real and true democratic process which will  culminate into election in 2023.

The Governor also condemned claims by the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in the State that it has over 5 million members.

“This is how they want to start rigging. We are not going to give them an inch. APC cannot conduct common ward congresses. Did you hear any rancour when PDP congresses were conducted?. Their 5 million membership is 419 and fraud. We are equal to the task,” Ortom stressed.
