2023: Peter Obi is Nigeria’s future — Royal Father

Barth Ndubuwah, Port Harcourt

An Elder statesman and Traditional Prime Minister of Nnewi in Anambra State, Chief Raymond Urama Anajemba, Ugochinyere Nnewi, Onowu Ndigbo has stated that the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi is beyond a standard flag bearer, pointing out that his emergence was phenomenal.

Chief Anajemba made the declaration in an exclusive interview with Nigerian NewsDirect in Port Harcourt. According to him, Nigerian youths have now realised that they just have to take their destiny in their hands, hence the need to support and enthrone a leader of the future, which he said Obi represents.

The Royal Father was categorical that neither the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Atiku Abubakar nor the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Tinubu fits into that shoe. This, he said, has made it possible for Obi to gather support in virtually all the four corners of the country, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“Ordinarily it was expected that South-East would have been allowed to produce the Presidential Candidates of the two major political parties in Nigeria this time around, but that was not to be.

“It is now obvious that the youths should be allowed to take over mantle of leadership in Nigeria in 2023. Be that as it may be, the younger generation have realized that it is time for them to take over from the older generation and that is why the emergence of Peter Obi has become a phenomenon in the political landscape of Nigeria,” the Elder statesman said.

“A white woman delivered a child recently and named him Peter Obi, that is to tell you how phenomenal Obi emergence is.

“Peter Obi is not just a Presidential Candidate, but a revolution. He is for the future. A cursory look at the other candidates will convince you that Obi is for the future, so his support cuts across the nooks and crannies of the country. The younger ones are clamouring for a future leader. Obi’s emergence is like a wild fire,” Chief Anajemba said.

The Traditional Prime Minister said if at the end of the day Obi is not elected president, he will go back and live his ordinary life, which he has been living.

However, he said he is convinced that Obi must get certain percentage of the votes in Lagos, Kano and other parts of the country in a free and fair election.

Commenting the stand of Governor Nyesom Wike on the chances of Obi becoming the President of Nigeria in 2023. The Onowu Ndigbo said Wike had from the onset said that Obi will not win the election and he recently said that he would support the APC Presidential Candidate. But he is one man and entitled to his opinion.

“We are not saying that everybody will vote for Obi, but the truth is that his candidacy is revolutionary. So 2023 holds a lot in stock for Peter Obi and the younger ones in Nigeria. But my fear is that the powers that be may be tempted to truncate the political system in 2023 if the process doesn’t favour them,” the Chief said.

On restructuring, Anajemba said until Nigeria is restructured it may be difficult to make headway as a nation.
