2023: PDP is taking over Ogun, Adebutu insists

The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu has said faulted recent appointment being made Gov Dapo Abiodun insisting that such moves can’t save the second term bid of the governor.

Hon Adebutu said he was sure that Abiodun has not done enough to deserve another term come 2023 and the people of the state are already warming up to send his administration packing with their votes next year.

Adebutu who made the declaration while speaking in Abeokuta, the state capital, said Abiodun is only playing with the intelligence of the people with his last minute appointments, consultations and awards of road contracts to save himself from defeat in the forthcoming election.

Adebutu stated this at the unification meeting with new defectors from All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP) and Allied People Moment (APM).

His declaration is coming following the recent fresh appointments made by Governor Abiodun.

The Governor had last month appointed seven new commissioners and a deputy chief of staff.

Abiodun also approved the appointment of Liaison Officers for the 20 local government areas of the state and reconstituted boards of all the tertiary institutions in the state after three years.

But, reacting to the fresh appointments, Adebutu said, no amount of consultation, last minute appointments and approval of road contracts can save Abiodun from suffering the same fate Osun state governor, Gboyega Oyetola suffered at the polls.

“This is a situation that you can describe as crying after spilt milk. The state has seen the truth, he (Abiodun) is just running around and crying, it is too late for him.

“Where was he (Abiodun) three years ago? He didn’t make these appointments that he is now making, he didn’t do these consultations three years ago, he is now making appointments when the tenure of his government is at the tail end.

“Why did he not care for the people for the last three years? He didn’t care for the hospitals, he did not care for the schools, he did not care about the roads three years ago and now he is doing palliatives, running up and down. All these are cosmetic surgeries, it is too late”, Adebutu said.

He insisted that, PDP is the only party that can save the state from what he called the “maladministration of APC”.

In his remarks, the chairman of the party, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele welcomed the decampees, urging them to unite and work together in removing APC from power in 2023.

Meanwhile, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade pointed that failure is not an option as victory is the only recipe for 2023 in the party.

Akinlade emphasized that his major roles would be determined by his principal, Hon. Adebutu and the party’s leadership as he remained absolutely loyal to them.

He eulogized his teeming loyalists who defected to the PDP with him and assured them of maximum recognition in the PDP and when the government is formed in 2023.
