2023: Ogun PDP won’t repeat primary – Ogundele

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ogun State has distanced itself from any purported primary election for aspirants of the party.

It would be recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta as well as an Abuja Appeal Court had last month nullified the primaries held by the party directing it to conduct fresh one within 14 days while also ensuring that no one was left out of the exercise.

However, in a statement by the State Chairman of the party, Hon Sikirulahi Ogundele, the opposition party said it was not making preparation for any fresh primaries.

Ogundele said “National Working Committee (NWC) of our party had  appealed the judgements that nullified the primary elections of the party which was contained in a press release by the NWC on 4th October, 2022 signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba.

“The NWC had appealed the judgements and could not have organised any purported primary election.

“Therefore, we urge all party faithful to remain calm and ficused as we await the appeal court verdict”, the statement concluded.
