2023: NYSC tasks corps members on credible election

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Tuesday tasked youth corps members deployed to Gombe State to play their roles in ensuring a free, fair and credible elections in 2023.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Ada Imoni, said this at the end of the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation Course in Amada community, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Imoni said conducting credible elections that would meet the expectations of voters in the country was a collective responsibility.

“We are approaching the 2023 general elections. Nigerians will go to the polls with the help of corps members as adhoc staff.

“The nation awaits a free, fair and credible election. It is our duty to carry out that national assignment honourably. I, therefore, call on you to be non-partisan,” she said.

Imoni said arrangements had been concluded with security agencies to keep staff and corps members safe throughout the exercise.

She called on the corps members to harness the knowledge they had acquired during the orientation exercise and contribute their quota to nation building.

The state coordinator urged the corps members to be good ambassadors in their host communities, avoid hate speech, partisan politics, membership of cult groups and other social vices.

Newsmen reports that 949 corps members comprising 510 females and 439 males were posted to various communities in Gombe State for their primary assignments.
