2023 presidential race: I will announce my intention at appropriate time – Kalu

Former Abia Governor, Orji Kalu, says he is being urged to publicly announce his intention and commence consultation to declare his 2023 presidential ambition.

The Senate Chief Whip issued this statement via his Facebook page on Wednesday.

The lawmaker told Nigerians that he would do the needful if the All Progressives Congress (APC) zones the party’s ticket to the southeast.

“I have been inundated with pressured requests to also declare my intention to run for the Presidency of our dear country and visit Mr President following visits by my other brothers to Mr President yesterday.

“I have taken off time to inform ourselves through the media that as a party man who believes in the supremacy of our party.

“I shall as soon as the party zones the Presidency and southern Nigeria is zoned to produce the Presidential candidate of our party.

“My train which is already steaming shall take off with a visit to Aso Rock Villa and brief Mr President of our collective decision”, Kalu wrote.

Recall that the former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu as well as Ebonyi Governor, Dave Umahi, visited Buhari on Monday and Tuesday respectively to inform the president of their readiness to run.
