2023 gov’ship polls: 6 feared dead for attempted ballot snatching in Benue

No fewer than six persons have been allegedly shot dead by security agencies with unspecified number of persons injured for allegedly attempting to snatch ballot boxes during the governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Benue State.

Nigerian NewsDirect reports that the 6 persons were shot at different locations when they stormed the polling units to snatch the ballot boxes for money bags politicians who are desperate to win the election.

An eye witness in a telephone conversation with Nigerian NewsDirect on condition of anonymity, said one person was killed in Abagu, a community within Gboko and the other two were also shot at different polling units at NKST Primary School, Gboko South, while the others met their Waterloo in Hausa quarters.

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, when contacted said she was yet to be briefed about the incidents.
