2023 elections: Society for Peace holds 16th conference, bestow awards on prominent Nigerians in Abuja
The Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, (NARC) Abuja is to hold its 16th International conference and Annual General Meeting in Abuja from Wednesday Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.
In a statement by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Prof. Tajudeen Akanji said that the two- day conference will hold at Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
According to him, the theme of the conference is, “Elections, Democratic Consolidation and Good Governance in Africa” amidst 18 other sub-themes slated for the conference.
Akanji said that a one-time Chief of Army Staff and former Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Rahman Danbazzau will be the Guest Speaker at the conference with Prof. Attahiru Jega, former INEC Chairman as the Chairman of the occasion.
The LOC Chairman added that Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, SPSP Chairman of B.O.T will be the Chief Host while Major General Garuba Wahab, the Director-General of NARC is the Co-host while Dr Nathaniel Danjibo, SPSP President, will be making his valedictory speech.
In addition to the scientific, practitioner and student panels, Akanji said the conference will have TETFUND centre of Excellence, University of Ibadan panel on “Early Warning System” and IPSS/Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation panel on Election Security in Nigeria.
Other highlights of the conference include special icons Peace and Democracy awards on Bishop Matthew Kukah, Prof. Uba Adamu, Dr Abdul-Rahman Danbazzau and Prof. Attahiru Jega as well as distinguished fellowship awards on seven Nigerians including the DG of NARC who was a former GOC of One Division.
The conference will also induct full members, carry out investiture of new fellowship by upgrade as well as direct full membership and induction of Associate members.
