2023: Coordinator charges corps members to be apolitical

MRS Okolo Agatha-Banki, the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Kebbi has charged corps members that would partake in the forthcoming general elections to remain apolitical.

Hajiya Hadiza Idris, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the corps made this known in a statement made available to the News reporters in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

Idris said the coordinator gave the charge while distributing certificates of national service to the passing out 2022 Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

“I charge you to shun all shades of deviant characters and and those of you who would be participating in the forthcoming elections, I charge you to be apolitical and be guided by the rules of INEC.

“I took over the mantle of leadership in the state barely a month ago and for this reason, I find it so difficult to say goodbye to you so soon,” she said.

While congratulating them as they successfully bowed out of national service, Agatha-Banki charged them to effectively put into practice all the skills they have acquired during their one-year national service.

“NYSC has not only given you platforms to acquire loans, such as BOI, CBN, NYSC foundation, etc, to get you established, but it had also given you abundant knowledge which supersedes wealth.

“I encourage you to utilise the gains of the NYSC skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development to become self sufficient,” she advised.

The state coordinator lauded their dedication, doggedness and immense contributions to the development of the state, especially in the education and health sectors.

Agatha-Banki called on them not to consider exiting the NYSC scheme as an end to their service to the nation, adding, ” it is an opening of a new chapter of more positive contributions to Nigeria.”

News reports that a total number of 741,  2022 Batch A Stream 1 corps members passed out, while six corps members had their  s service extended for various offences that contravened the NYSC bye-laws.
