2023: Concede position of governor to Benue South — Ogbu appeals to Tiv people
Agubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue, Chief Patrick Ogbu has appealed to both the people of Benue North East and Benue North West to concede the position of the governor to their brothers in Benue South come 2023.
Ogbu made the appeal in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Makurdi.
The gubernatorial aspirant disclosed that since the creation of the State in 1976, Benue South has not produced a governor.
“The Benue South which has nine of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state has not produced any governor since the creation of the state in 1976.
“Since the creation of the state, the position of the governor of the state has been rotating between the Benue North East and Benue North West.
“It is our turn to produce the next governor of the State for the sake of equity and fair play.
“We know that they are more in population but I want to use this opportunity to appeal to them to allow us fulfill our dreams and aspiration,” he said.
He stated that he is a strong contender for governorship and the aspirant to beat from Benue South.
“If I am elected, my administration will focus on nine key areas — Revenue Generation, Infrastructure, Health, Education, Agriculture, Pension Matters, Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Security,” he said.
He further promised to consolidate on the achievements of both the past and present governors of the state in order to take the state to enviable heights.
