By Titus Atondu, Makurdi
The Benue State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), has revealed the activities of some yet to be identified persons who are allegedly going about in rural areas with documents requesting and collecting voters identification details.
Hon. Isaac Mffo, the Acting Chairman made this known at a press conference on Thursday at the Secretariat in Makurdi, lamenting over the continuous vandalization and destruction of the party’s bill board by the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that the motives of such persons are suspicious and called on the people to reject in entirety their activities.
He also called on security agencies to investigate and apprehend those persons as their activities could likely be targeted at subverting the electoral process and to distort the popular mandate of Benue electorate.
“We have paid stipulated levies for carrying out some activities, this we do to lead by example as the ruling political party in Benue State. However, sadly, many of the campaign materials we have mounted have been vandalized and destroyed by our opponents.
“A situation where one party alone plays by the rules while others flout the rules with impunity cannot be said to be truly one that law and order prevails”, he frowned.
On the health of the Party’s governorship candidate, Titus Uba, the chairman said he is very much in good health having recovered sufficiently from the bout of illness he suffered recently, even as he called on the oppositions in the state, particularly the APC to put the state and humanity above their quest for power by not displaying mischief and lies as weapon of political warfare.
