2023: Atiku can end anguish of Nigerians — Ogun PDP Chieftain, Showunmi
Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta
About nine days to the presidential election in the country, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has said that Nigerians should protest what he described as the obvious misrule and incompetencies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration by voting for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate.
Showunmi said that there is no stressing the fact that APC government has with its lackluster performance and lack of qualitative leadership brought untold hardship to Nigerians, saying that the country should just persevere till February 25 when they should troop out enmass and vote for Atiku, who, he said has all it takes to return the country to the right track.
He disclosed that as far as Ogun PDP is concerned, he and thousands of his supporters across the State are leaving no stone unturned to ensure landslide victory for Atiku.
Showunmi said this on Wednesday in a meeting held with over 300 party members who are to serve as the party agents during the February 25 presidential election.
He explained that the ruling government not yet satisfied with how it has bastardised the economy with festering insecurity and growing poverty, has equally added a protracted fuel scarcity and unnecessary scarcity of Naira that has nearly snuffed life out of many Nigerians.
Showunmi said that Nigerians will be doing themselves and generation yet unborn a lot of good by sending the APC government packing and of course vote for Atiku, a former Vice President for eight years and highly successful entrepreneur, saying that the Adamawa State born politician has all the prerequisites to build a new Nigeria from its present ruin.
The PDP chieftain equally said that his gubernatorial ambition was still on course, saying that he awaits Supreme Court judgement over the matter and was quite confident that the pendulum would swing in his favour.
Showunmi disclosed how he had extended hands of love to the party’s governorship candidate in the Ztate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu but that the former federal lawmaker had refused to reciprocate his humble gesture, adding that Adebutu would rather prefer to continue to live in the delusion of using money to control other people’s lives.
The PDP leader also accused Adebutu of not doing enough to work for the victory of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the State, explaining that the party’s governorship candidate has refused to include photographs of Atiku on his branded governorship campaign buses and neither has he placed any jingle on radio, saying that he had placed several jingles on some Radio stations in the State that are drumming support and votes for the party and the presidential candidate, Atiku.
He therefore charged the party members to continue to mobilise for the success of the party in the coming elections telling them that the new Electoral Act has made it so difficult to engage in rigging and other malpractices except they want results of the election of such polling unit cancelled.
