The Director General, (DG) nineteen northern states movement, Abubukar Aliyu, gave the promise on Saturday, during a meeting in Kaduna, said the choice of Shettima as running mate to Tinubu has given them edge against other presidential candidates.
Aliyu, said with the choice of Kashim, there is no need for Tinubu to come and campaign in the North, adding that the group will stand in the gap to do the needful to ensure they emerge victoriously, next year.
“We are here today because we know that Kaduna state is the headquarter of the 19-Northern states to show our support for Senator Kashim Shettima, the running mate to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of APC. We want to tell you that Asiwaju has made the right choice of Shettima as his running mate in 2023 general election.
“By picking Shettima alone has already delivered the 19-northern states for him. Because of that, am assuring you that myself and my members will give Tinubu 16-million votes as our support for this project. So we are calling on Asiwaju to stay away from campaigns in the north because we are going to do that for him.” Aliyu said.
He further stressed that the movement has 1700 Political organizations and would be awarded certificates because they believed in their vision and has the capacity to mobilise grassroot supporters, reiterated that the movement has strategized and will be embarking on door to door campaign to meet the target.
“This movement have 1,700 Organizations. We are going to strategically embark on door to door campaign. We have 812 polling units in Kaduna state and we are going to put our agents in these polling units to campaign for Tinubu-Shettima. In each polling units, we are going to place thirty women and 30 men.
“We are also emphasizing on the need to intensify campaigns by our people. We have selected almost 1.5million People to campaign in their respective polling units. We have a lot of challenges in the north and we believe that with the emergence of Shettima, the challenges facing Northerners will be addressed.”
The DG also said that Northerners are aware that power have stayed in the region for a very long time, and so they are in support that power should shift to the South, hence the need to back Tinubu-Shettima for the unity of Nigeria.
He noted that the movement is deploying their energy to the Tinubu/Shettima’s project because they believe it is result oriented. urged participants to double their efforts so as to get the desired results.
