20-year-old man defiles minor in Gombe

The Police Command in Gombe State has paraded a 20-year-old man, Babangida Isah, of Tike Quarters, Bajoga, in the Funakaye Local Government Area of the state for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

ASP Mahid Abubakar, the state Police Public Relations Officer, explained that the victim’s father, Yahaya Isah, reported to the police that the suspect lured his daughter behind an Almajiri school and defiled her.

Abubakar said that on receipt of the complaint, the suspect, Isah, was arrested and he voluntarily confessed to the crime.

He added, “Both the suspect and the victim were taken to a hospital for medical examination. The case will soon be taken to court.”

Abubakar said the command would continue to prosecute criminals in the state.

Oqua Etim, the Commissioner of Police, hailed the effort of the detectives attached to the Bajoga division that were involved in the investigation for their swift action and dedication to duty.

He assured the public of the command’s readiness to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, saying that they were to report any suspicious activities and cooperate with the police in their efforts to maintain peace and order in the community.
