2 men to serve 4 months imprisonment for trafficking hard drugs

A Magistrates’ Court in Kano on Wednesday sentenced two men, Abdullahi Aliyu, 23 and Jamilu Rabiu, 21, to four months imprisonment for trafficking hard drugs.

The convicts are charged with possession of hard drugs suspected to be intoxicant.

The Magistrate, Farouk Ibrahim, sentenced them after they pleaded guilty to the charge.

Ibrahim did not give them an option of fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Aminu Dandago, told the court that the convicts committed the offence on March 23 at Fagge Quarters, Kano.

Dandago said that on the same date at about 8 p.m., a team of Fagge Security Association on patrol arrested them in a criminal hideout.

He said that they were in possession of large quantity of hard drugs suspected to cannabis sativa.

He said that when arrested, the convicts could not give satisfactory account of the said drugs.

Dangado said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 401 of the Penal Code.
