2 in court over alleged motorcycle theft

Two men, Ajisafe Mayowa(22) and Oyebanji Saliu(35), were, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of motorcycle.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 6, at about 11 p.m. at Oke-Ureje-Poly road in Ado-Ekiti.
Leramo said that the defendants stole a Bajaj boxer motorcycle, with registration number: ADK 447 QH, valued at N500,000 and belonging to one Abdulrahman Abdullahi.
He said that the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 15 for hearing.
