To ensure sound and quality education for Benue Child, the Chairman House Committee on Education, Science and Technology Honourable William Iortyom representing Guma State constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly has sued for a mutual partnership with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), to ensure quality and sound education for Benue Child.
Hon. Iortyom also explained that the principal aim of Assembly visit to SUBEB is to congratulate the new Chairman for his appointment as the new Executive Chairman of Benue SUBEB as well know his work plan for the Board with the view to monitor the plan closely so that Benue SUBEB will be given an enviable position in the education of Benue theChildren.
The Assembly House Committee Chairman made this known to Nigerian NewsDirect on Thursday shortly after an interactive session between Assembly House Committee delegation and the management staff of Benue SUBEB at the SUBEB headquarters in Makurdi.
Hon.Iortyom expressed confident and satisfaction with the outcome of the interactive session and expressed optimism that the new Chairman with the management staff of the Board will definitely make SUBEB, Assembly and Benue State at large proud.
” I am confident and convinced that the Chairman and the management staff of SUBEB are going to make us proud as a State, I have no doubt.
“From our interactions it is clear that the Chairman having the background of a class teacher, he will definitely make us proud” Iortyom affirmed.
He frowned on the various issues facing primary education especially issues bordering on teachers welfare and urged the new Chairman with his management staff to do everything possible to block the leakages in the Board system in order to restore the lost glory of Child education and by doing so, the Assembly House Committee on Education will be proud having an effective, responsive and transparent board leadership since the inception of SUBEB in Benue.
He further stated that to ensure standard, the Assembly House Committee on Education will also be embarking on SUBEB projects supervision with the view to fishing out contractors executing substandard jobs for the board.
Commenting, Permanent Member II of the Board, Hon. Mike Kusah, expressed worry over the static nature of allocation to SUBEB since it inception to Benue State.
Hon. Kusah also explained that the mutual relationship between Assembly and the Board will always keep the relationship alive for results to be achieved.
Benue State UBEC coordinator, Mrs. Augustina Sanchi, revealed that there is a big problem in Benue SUBEB bordering on teachers welfare, lack of teachers in the State primary schools among others.
She sued for the recruitment of more teachers in the State primary schools for efficiency and productivity.
Earlier, the new Executive Chairman of Benue SUBEB Mr. Joseph Utse, thanked the Assembly Committee on Education for their timely visit and promised to welcome constructive criticism for corrections to be done.
Mr. Utse revealed that Benue Child education has remained his priority since he assumed office as the new SUBEB Chairman within two months in office.
He further explained that backing up the fact that the Child education remain the cardinal point of his administration is the flag off of the distribution of over thirty five thousand plastic chairs and tables to primary schools in the State with the full support of the Executive Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom.
The plastic chairs and tables according to the Executive Chairman were delivered to the designated primary schools across the state without hitches.
Utse assured the Assembly House Committee delegation that SUBEB under his watch will ensure that all primary schools in the State that were not captured in the past in the area of projects execution will be taken care of during his tenure.
He promised to furnish the assembly with all SUBEB relevant documents that would help them in discharging their constitutional oversight.
