Action continued in the Zenith Women’s Basketball League Final 8 at the National Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday with IGP Queens defeating Plateau Rocks 59-37.
First Bank beat First Deepwater 91-74 while Nigeria Customs outscored GT2000 46-40. Dolphins beat Delta Force 85-67.
Defending champions First Bank will open Day Three of the final Phase on Wednesday with a clash against GT 2000.
Plateau Rocks confront Dolphins while IGP Queens face Delta Force. Customs will take First Deepwater in the last match of the day.
Meanwhile, Dolphins chairman Wale Aboderin has praised his team for the 65-64 win against IGP Queens in the competition on Monday.
Aboderin said he was happy with his team’s display in the encounter.
He said, “We had not played them this season and because of their heights, we knew it was going to be a full day’s job to get even a half point win – and that was exactly what happened,” the Lagos club boss was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
“But winning or losing isn’t the important thing about this match. We are happy that every minute was well played; we are happy that everyone watching enjoyed the game. This is clearly the match of the day and how wonderful it would be for the development of the women’s league if all or at least many of the games play out like this.”
