YSFON VP Yabo lauds Nationwide League One initiatives

The Special Guest of Honour at the Annual General Meeting of Nationwide League One Honourable Faruk Malami Yabo (MFR) has hailed the innovations and good initiatives of the League Managers which he is confident would make the League one of the best in Africa.

The Nationwide League One has over 100 clubs participating in the league which Yabo believes would help in producing quality players for all Nigerian national teams namely the Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles, the U-23 national team and the Super Eagles.

Hon. Yabo who is the Vice President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) argued that any country that plans for the development of her youth football will never lack good players at the senior national team. He concurred that he was excited to hear all the result oriented programmes put in place by the Management body of the Nationwide League One.

“I am excited and very happy to hear all the laudable programmes put in place by the Management body of the Nationwide League One which I believe would go a long way in boosting football growth in Nigeria.

Hon. Yabo who was a Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development Sokoto State told SportingLife after the AGM that “”It was pleasing to the ears and heart warming to hear all the star players the league has produced since its inception 8 years ago. It is also noteworthy to hear that this lower league has produced prominent and star layers like Ogenyi Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi, Musa Muhammed, Ezekiel Imoh, Taiwo Awoniyi and the rest who play for the national team and notable clubs in Europe now.

“The introduction and adoption of Integrity Initiatives by FIFA and the marketing drive embark on by the Nationwide League One administrators are welcome development. I am happy with them”, Yabo disclosed.

The Nationwide League One’s AGM took place at Top Rank Hotel, Utako, Abuja on Wednesday.
