Wike Wrestling tourney: I won’t disappoint Nigerian Army, says Tochukwu

National Greco-Roman Champion, Tochukwu Okeke has vowed to claim gold for Nigerian Army at the Governor Nyesom Wike National Wrestling Challenge Cup which holds in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Popularly known as Mickey Praize, Tochukwu, who won gold in the 80kg weight at the Governor Seriake Dickson Wrestling Championship in Bayelsa, informed newsmen that he is ready to challenge the likes of Abraham Onyemelusi, Omega Bassey and Melvin Bibo in the new 82kg weight class.

“I’m in high spirit, I know those in that new weight category are great athletes and are very good but I can assure you that I am going to put up a good fight so as not to disappoint the Nigerian Army.

“We have been training very well and preparing hard for this championship because we want to continue to dominate wrestling in the country,” Tochukwu, who is among the 26 athletes that will represent the Nigerian Army at the tournament told NationSport.

The Governor Wike National Wrestling Challenge Cup is a prelude to the 2018 Cadet, Junior and Senior African Wrestling Championships that will hold in Port Harcourt, next year.
