Why I will continue supporting Youths – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged  Nigerian youths to be  proactive towards nation building and be focused in whatever they  do for the sake of the country .

Obasanjo gave the charge on Wednesday while speaking at a public presentation/book launch organised by Hex Communications in honour of 100 most influential Ogun State still living, held at Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former President who was one of the awardees pointed out that, youth relevance in nation building cannot be ignored, hence for them to show commitment to whatever they are doing positively to better their lot and country.

He said he appreciates youths with good idea and will always support them whenever his attention is needed. He said when the  youths who organised the 100 most influential Ogun State indigenes approached  him for the project, he genuinely supports  the course, describing it  as a laudable programme.

Also speaking at the occasion,  the State  Governor, Senator  Ibikunle Amosun  pointed  out that  such honour would further encourage others on the  need to contribute their quota positively towards development and growth  of their communities, state and nation as a whole.

Amosun who was represented by his Deputy, Yetunde Onanuga, however, advised that, this  kind of   honour should be continuous. He noted  that aside from hundred already identified, there were still number of such performers, who  cut across all fields.

One of the notable awardees, who was a former world court judge, Bola Ajibola said, it was a good idea to appreciate individual who performed well‎ before their death.

He also commended the organisers and charged the youth on the importance of being focused and committed to what will make them grow positively, rather than showing passion for crimes. The Director of Hex Communications, Olusesi in his speech, said the body thought is meaningful on the need to recognise good work, and that was what propelled the project.

He said the awardees were carefully chosen on merit and cut across all fields, stating that, the project would be a continous, and would also propelled other citizens to do good work for their country.

Meanwhile, some of  the awardees at the occassion include; Olusegun Obasanjo,Onaolapo Soneye,Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo, idowu Phillips(a.k.a Mama Rainbow), Biyi Afonja, Mike Adenuga,Kessignton Adebutu,Dimeji Bankole and Alaba Lawson .
