Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has stated that he cannot see striker, Alvaro Morata staying at Chelsea as the Spain international continues to be linked with a move to Juventus.
Morata only joined the Blues from Real Madrid last summer but is already being strongly linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge.
Recall that Morata’s representatives had last week Monday come to an agreement with Juventus, with the 25-year-old willing to take a pay cut to push through a deal.
Merson, however, believes the move makes sense for both Morata, who has scored just 11 goals in the just concluded Premier League season for Chelsea.
“We talk about confidence, and he’s lost his,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I cannot see him being there next season.
“There’s talk today about him going to Juventus, I think that ticks the boxes.
“I just don’t see him being at Chelsea. “I just don’t think he suits the Premier League, he’s not that kind of player.
“By Christmas he had played more minutes than he’s ever played before in a whole season, and that was at Christmas.
“So, unless they give him another year and hope he gets better, but they’re not going to play him and [Olivier] Giroud up front. For me now Giroud is the main man.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte had reacted to reports linking Morata to Italian giants, Juventus this summer.
