The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said despite the activities of mischief makers to frustrate the establishment of a military barracks in Southern Kaduna, the government was determined to overcome.
He made the remark while receiving a delegate from Kaura Local Government Area of the state paid him a visit on Wednesday.
Addressing the delegates, the governor stressed that there was no going back on the establishment of a military barrack in the Southern Kaduna part of the state.
According to El-Rufai, “No matter what some mischievous people are doing, they will not succeed by the grace of God.
“We have talked with the chief of army staff. There is no going back on the military barracks project in southern Kaduna.
“There is no going back on our quest to ensure the protection of life and property, there is no going back in our resolve to enforce the law in the state.
“One life matters to us because we are all humans created by God and we have the constitutional responsibility on our heads. And above all, we all represent one humanity under God.
“Manipulating religion and ethnicity with dangerous narratives will not benefit our people. It has not worked anywhere; instead, it is dangerous and destructive.
“What we need is nothing but the truth. And we will continue to work for peace and solutions to the unfortunate security challenges.”
Recall that El-Rufai’s remark is coming at a time several lives have been lost to marauding herdsmen across the country with Southern Kaduna being the current flash point.
In December, the Catholic Archdiocese of Kafanchan, had disclosed that no fewer than 800 people lost their lives in the crisis that broke out in southern Kaduna.
