Apparently pained by the murder of his Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Denen Igbana by gunmen in the early hours of Friday, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has ordered security agents to fish out the killers without delay.
Ortom who disclosed this at the residence of the deceased when he came to console his wife and children, said those who killed Igbana have touched him.
He charged security agents to carry out full investigation into the killing of his aide, adding that such investigation should not leave any person out.
He said the gap left by Igbana would be difficult to fill and vowed that the law would take its full course when the culprits become known.
The governor said the senior special assistant accompanied him during the electioneering, emphasizing that he was able to check kidnapping and the payment of ransom.
He said Igbana was one of his closest aides and announced the summoning of an emergency state security meeting on killings and increase in activities of hoodlums.
During the visit, Governor Ortom gave soothing words to Mr Igbana’s middle-aged son who was hospitalized as a result of the shock he had while his father was being shot.
Thereafter, Ortom extended heartfelt condolences to the state police command and the family of a police man who was also killed by unknown gunmen.
Due to the two incidents, the governor has postponed his trip to Gwer-West local government to inspect roads under construction.
