Two robbers gunned down by police in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command in the early hour of Thursday, last week engaged dare devil robbers in a  gun battle at J4 Area of Ogbere where the hoodlums hijacked a luxury bus heading to Porthacout in River State and robbed the passengers.

According to the statements obtained by the ogun state police public relation officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Thursdays :”The robbers numbering about eight, blocked the highway at about 1:40 am, hijacked the luxury bus and drove it into the bush, where the passengers were robbed of their money, phones and other valuables.

“Luck however ran out on  them when Police got an information and DPO Ogbere Division CSP Adeyinka Akingbade led his Anti-robbery team, Safer highway patrol and other Special Units in the area to the scene.

“On sighting the Police, the robbers engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 45minutes.

“At the end of the encounter, two members of the gang were gunned down while others escaped with bullet wounds.

“Recovered from them were three pump action guns, two locally made pistols, several GSM phones and three motorcycles”.He added

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu who commended the gallantry display of his men, also appealed to members of the public especially hospitals to quickly alert the Police if they see anybody with bullet wound as such persons may be the members of the gang
