PDP has suffered defeat in Niger State over Saturday, March 9; governorship election in the state .The election petition tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the PDP, Umar Nasko, against Governor Bello. Nasko and his party prayed the court to upturn Bello’s victory at the poll The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, September 18, lost the petition it filed against Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state over alleged certificate forgery.
The governorship election petition tribunal in the state dismissed the petition by the PDP and its candidate, Umar Nasko, against Governor Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC).Report gathered that the PDP and its candidate are challenging Bello’s victory in the March 9 governorship election, stating that the governor submitted forged certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dismissing the petition, the tribunal led by Justice John Igboji, said it constituted an abuse of court process since it had been heard and decided by a Federal High Court.
Recall that Bello was declared winner of the governorship election in Niger state, after defeating his major challenger, Nasko, in a landslide victory. Bello polled 526,412 votes to defeat Nasko who had 298,065 votes.
