The Oyo State governorship election petitions tribunal has upheld the victory of the people’s Democratic Party Governorship candidate , engineer Seyi Makinde in the last election.
Justice Sirajo Muhammud Gave the judgement today after reading a long judgement script that started at 10.17am and ended 4.55pm
Its would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced Makinde as the winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.
The petitioners had filed a petition challenging the declaration of Makinde by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the March 9 governorship election.
They prayed the tribunal to declare Adelabu the winner of the election having scored the highest number of lawful votes or nullify the election and order a rerun.
Justice Muhammud in the judgement noted that after considering all evidences presented by the petitioner, the tribunal application filled by the petitioners APC lacks merit hence was dismissed
He said that petitioners failed to proof all the evidences presented before the tribunal beyond reasonable doubt
Muhammud ,thereafter dismissed the petitions for lack of merit ,he ordered that the petitioner should pay the sum of two hundred thousand each to the resspondents (N200,000,00)
In his reaction, the counsel to the petitioner(APC ) Mr.Akinola Oladeji SAN said that they will take time to study the judgement and take other necessary steps.
