As the non-academic workers of the Nigeria universities commenced indefinite strike on Monday, the Federal University of Technology, Akure branch of the Joint Action Congress has warned all workers to stay off work.
The chairman of JAC in FUTA, Mr. Dele Durojaiye, disclosed that a monitoring committee had been inaugurated. Its duty is to go round all the offices to see if any worker would disobey the directive of the union.
While addressing the workers in FUTA, Durojaiye specifically warned all management staff, students on industrial attachment and youth corps members serving in the institution to stay away from office.
“We want to warn all of you to stay away from the office, if the monitoring committee meets you in the office, whatever treatment they mete out on you, it is your own cause.
“ You should not attend any adhoc or special meeting, no driver should drive the vehicle of the university, all the staff should stay off campus until the end of the strike. “
The unions, however, exempted the security men on the campus as well as teachers of FUTA staff school from the strike owing to the sensitivity of their jobs.
