Motorists  in  Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state capital has called on officials of Ekiti State Traffic management Agency EKSTMA to stop extorting them.

A motorist Mr. AdeyemiAdeniyi  who spoke with our reporter in Ado-Ekiti decried the way and manner EKSTMA officials are performing their duties. He explained that there was a time he just packed very close to a commercial bank and less  than five minutes EKSTMA officials  surfaced and jumped into his car asking him to drive straight to their office or he should settle them, to cut the whole story short I begged  passionately before they collected N 5000 .

According to him, these officials are not civil in their approach, they are not ready to tell motorist where they need to park and where they cannot park rather they are just looking for any opportunity to arrest motorist and then extort them.

Adeniyi called on Ekiti State government to erect adequate road signs in Ado Ekiti that will tell motorists where to park and where they cannot park. He noted that markings on some of these roads are fading away, thereby making it very invisible for motorists.

Another motorist Mr. OsasonaBisi who spoke with NND explained that there is a need for the state and local government to provide adequate parking space in the state capital.

He noted with sadness that a state capital like Ado Ekiti does not have parking space  where ten to twenty cars can park conveniently.

Osasona who said it is when government provide parking space in the state capital and motorists fail to use them that government can now begin to confiscate vehicles enjoined GovernorAyodeleFayose to see to the welfare of EKSTMA officials.

According to him, regular payment of entitlements of these officials may reduce or curb the high rate of extortion among them.

To him extortion and bribery from motorists and traders who display their wares by the road side will not make their impact commendable and visible in Ado Ekiti
