By Ayo Fadimu
The National leader of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) Senator Bola Tinubu, has raised alarm over attempt by some members of the National Assembly to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu, a two term governor of Lagos State made this allegation in Ikot-Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State at the formal defection of ex-Senate Minority Leader, Senator GodswillAkpabio, from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, Tinubu, a former Senator warned those he described as brain behind the plot to desist from the plan forthwith , saying it is not “possible for a lizard to wrestle an antelope.’’
He described what is happening in the country now as “a war between progressives and the conservatives.”
“We believe in government of the people, for the people and by the people; but the conservatives believe in government of sharing.
“We say Nigerian money belongs to Nigerians. We say Nigerians must be given development. We believe in investing in the people.
“But they believe in sharing and looting the money.
“Today, we are aspiring in our vision, but the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has no vision. They believe in sharing and looting the treasury.’’
Nigerians, he said, gave PDP 16 years to rule but the party failed.
“Today, Buhari says we must change; we must account for Nigeria’s money, but they are resisting.’’
He expressed happiness that Akwa Ibom had embraced the change of Buhari.
“With the present posture of the state, it “shall sweep the evil out with the broom,’’ Tinubu said.
In the meantime, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has described all the PDP presidential aspirants as featherweights. Osinbajo boasted that all the PDP presidential aspirants puttogether would not defeat Buhari in 2019 general election. He said that Buhari was the only candidate who could generate 10 million votes, “unlike others that could not boast of 800 votes.”
The Vice President represented by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, also told the people of President Muhammadu Buhari’s love for them.
The acting President, noted that Buhari has been growing the Nigerian economy in spite of difficulties in the country.
The acting President, who described Akpabio’s action as “uncommon defection”, said that the Federal Government under the leadership of Buhari had provided jobs to teeming youths through the N-Power programme in the last three years.
He urged the people of Akwa Ibom to have faith in the Federal Government and assured them that things would improve soon.
He said “I came to thank Akwa Ibom people for their remarkable show of solidarity. I came to tell you that the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari love the people of Akwa Ibom. “I want to put on record that the entire South South has been taken over by APC-led government. I can assure you that the heart of the President, the acting President are with you.”
The Senate Leader, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, who was in IkotEkpene with over 30 senators, said that the defection of Akpabio APC had stirred the PDP to foundation, describing it as “more than the 14 senators who defected from APC to PDP last two weeks.”
