Following the recent allegation of sales of voters cards to an unnamed political party by some rural dwellers in Anambra state, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, the governorship candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has warned youths not to heed such advice from politicians.
Ezeemo who spoke to youths of the state from Aguata area who paid him a courtesy visit said sales and purchase of voters’ card was a major challenge facing Nigeria’s electoral process.
He added that only vicious and desperate politicians indulged in such.
The governorship hopeful told the youths that it was their civic responsibility to use their votes to make positive changes in the state.
“It is your duty to make the rightful choice and as well ensure that the right person governs the state.
“As youths, you should shun greedy politicians whose stock in trade is to engage some of you; our future leaders as thugs in order to actualize their selfish political ambition’, he said.
He attributed the practice of selling voters’ card to ignorance, while also calling on security agencies to be on the alert and always apprehend those who commit such electoral fraud as it amounted to deceiving the ignorant and gullible public.
“Some people say that poverty is responsible for the sales of voters’ cards during election, but I disagree with such position in that Nigerians should know it that such act is criminal act.
“It is better for the people to tackle poverty by choosing the right leaders based on their ability and not based on monetary consideration,” Ezeemo said.
