The Lagos State Police Command said it was still investigating a case of two policemen who allegedly beat up some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
The police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, on Saturday said the policemen had yet to be identified.
Our correspondent had reported that a mobile policeman on Tuesday took the reserved Bus Rapid Transport lane at the Idiroko end of the Ikorodu Road.
His KIA vehicle, with number plate, GW 113 AAA, was reportedly blocked by the LASTMA officials, who were in another branded KIA.
The mopol was said to have resisted arrest as the traffic officials insisted he would face the consequence of his action.
Two policemen reportedly attached to a bank opposite the scene were said to have attacked the government workers, beating them up publicly.
The policemen were alleged to have vandalised the LASTMA vehicle, which they pushed out of the BRT lane to make way for the mopol’s car, who subsequently escaped.
The scene of the assault was captured by a motorist, who posted it on the social media.
The video went viral as many condemned the action of the cops.
The police had promised to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to book.
The police spokesperson, Oti, said that the matter was still being investigated.
He said, “We are still making efforts to get them. The policeman responsible for the whole act was not in uniform, so he could be from another command and may just be in Lagos for something else. But we will track him. We will get all those involved and bring them to book.
