… owns N200bn properties Force-PRO collects ransom in dollars

On Sunday, the Nigeria Police, Lagos state police command paraded the most wanted, vicious and highly notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike a.k.a Evans and six of his commanders namely Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma a.k.a Sudo,42 years which is said to be three in command, Suoyo Paul a.k.a Nwana,42 years, Felix Chinemerem,36 years, Ikenna Emeka 28 years, Uchechukwu Amadi, Ogechi Amadi, female.
It was gathered that Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike a.k.a Evans who is an indigene of Anambra state and the vicious leader of a highly organised kidnap ring responsible for several kidnaps of prominent Nigerians in Lagos state including the western, eastern, south-south and some northern states. He has his gangs active and spread across these mentioned states.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood while addressing the press on Sunday said Evans was nabbed Saturday by the police at his house in Magodo Estate, Ikeja area of Lagos state after an intense gun battle which lasted several hours where members of his gang were overpowered by the superior fire power of the Joint Special Force.
Arms and ammunition recovered from them were five AK 47 riffles, one AK 49 riffle, two double barrel long, two English pistols, 59 AK 47 magazine with ammunition, 1,272 live ammunition of AK 47 (9MM), five different plate numbers and other weapons from their different hideouts.
“Evans was first declared wanted in August, 2013 when he masterminded the attempted kidnap of Chief Vincent Obianudo, the owner the Young Shall Grow Motors at Festac, Lagos, where a policeman attached to the victim foiled the attack and killed three of Evans’ gang members but also lost his life in the process.
“Some of the Evans gang members were subsequently arrested but he regrouped after with several gangs and became more vicious and unleashed terror in the afore- mentioned states of the Federation,” he added.
Nigerian NewsDirect also gathered that Evans and his gangs kept their victims kidnapped in Lagos area at a house located at Number 21 Prophet Asaye Close New Igando, Lagos state, , until ransom was paid to him.
Ransom monies were paid to him in millions of Dollars, some victims were kept for upward of six to seven months until the last penny was paid. He never reduced his targeted ransom.
It was also revealed that in every kidnap attack, he had a separate armed group that kidnapped victims with him and has another armed group which looked after them in their hideouts in order to prevent them from escaping.
However, the members of the two groups didn’t know each other but only complied with Evans’ instruction.
While speaking with Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike a.k.a Evans he confessed that “I started this business five years ago after I lost the business that I was doing. I was a car spare parts seller; I import it to Nigeria from neighbouring countries. Goods worth over N20 million was seized from me by the Nigeria Customs Service, it was after the incident that I engaged in the act of kidnap for ransom.
“It is my choice to collect ransom from my victims in Dollars. The highest ransom I have collected from a victim is $1,000,000 million. I can only count 10 prominent personalities out of the people that I have kidnapped, I can’t remember the rest. I bought all my properties from the money I earned from hard drugs business and ransom collected from the victims’ am a married man, I have five children and a wife,” he confessed.
It was also revealed that the female suspect arrested along with them was the one in charge of the victim’s welfare.
Earlier, Moshood added that investigation had revealed that Evans had collected ransom worth billions of Naira from his victims and also owns properties worth over N200 billion.
Moshood stressed further that “he has two mansions in Magodo, GRA phase 2 worth about N300 milion. He also has two houses in the highbrow area of Accra in Ghana among many other properties such as exotic cars, ,expensive watches, jewelry and other properties he brought from the ransom collected from the victims.
“During interrogation and preliminary investigation, Evans and his gangs confessed to all the Kidnappings linked to them and made confessional statements on the various roles they played in the commission of the crimes. They will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
He added that the police would ensure perpetrators are arrested, investigated and prosecuted.
