The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives killed one suspected armed robber out of five that invaded a fuel station in Miri, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis yesterday.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson DSP Kamal Abubakar the suspects who were armed with AK-47 riffles and other weapon stormed the fuel station to cart away the day’s sales proceed before its Operation Puff Adder foiled the robbery.
He said: “On sighting the Police, the suspects engaged them in gun battle, but they were overpowered by superior firepower of the Police and one of the suspect was shot during the battle while the rest were suspected to have escaped with bullets wounds.
“The suspect was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical doctor.”
Abubakar explained that one AK-47 rifle with 25 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the suspects. “No causality recorded from the Police or any innocent member of the public and effort is on top gear to arrest the fleeing suspects,” he said.
