A 37-year-old man, Luke Oyelakin, has been arraigned before an Osun state Magistrate court, sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, for alleged N1.8million fraud.
Police prosecutor, Insp Lamidi Rasaki, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometimes in August, 2017 and February 2018 at Osogbo, in the Osogbo magisterial district.
He told the court that the accused fraudulently stole the sum of N1,837,43.00.
He further told the court that the money collected by the accused is the sum of loan re-paid by some members of Achiever farmer paid to him for remittance to Bank of Industry Limited.
He also told the court that the accused did forge some cash receipt documents of one Metise Business Solution Limited which he acted to be genuine and issued it to people.
Rasaki, said the accused committed an offence contrary to section 838(1) and 465 punishable under section 467 and 309(9) of the criminal code cap 34. Vol II, Laws of Osun state of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the crime charged against him.
Counsel to the accused, Mr K.E Nwogke, urged the court to grant his client bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs R.A Olayemi, allowed the accused to continue with the earlier bail, and thereby adjourned the matter to March 21,2019 for hearing.
