Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta
Former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has declared that those who did not wish the ruling party, APC well and decided to defect to another party would be hugely disappointed and shocked after the result of 2019 general elections in the state.
Chief Osoba also insisted that nothing can change the candidacy of the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun who he said will succeed Gov Amosun in 2019 with the support of the people of the state.
The billionaire oil merchant, Prnce Dapo Abiodun also reechoed what the former governor said maintaining that in as much as his governorship project is being driven by people, APC would by the grace of God emerge victorious in 2019 polls while all the oppositions to the party would be put to shame.
They both spoke at the formal unveiling of the APC deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, held at Osoba residence, GRA Ibara, Abeokuta.
In attendance were Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organisation Director-General, Prince Segun Adesegun; former deputy governor, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, former Amosun’s Chief of Staff, Chief Tolu Odebiyi, Senator Gbolahan Dada, Senator Akin Odunsi, Senator Gbenga Obadara, Chief Dipo Odujinrin, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, Mrs. Abisola Sodipo-Clark and Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, among others.
Osoba, in his address, urged members of the ruling party to unite and work in harmony towards recording victory in 2019.
The former governor assured that APC would zone all political offices if it wins the elections next year.
According to him, it was the zoning arrangement of political offices that caused his disagreement with the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, where a particular zone benefits much from appointments to the disadvantage of other senatorial districts.
Osoba warned against unnecessary groupings within the party, stressing that all genuine members must work together.
He said: “Whether they like it or not, Dapo Abiodun has become the Ogun State APC governorship candidate. Those who didn’t wish APC well have been disappointed.
“The task had begun. We are in the midst of enemies and we should come together as one. I want to urge all that we have just started. I am 80 years old and I am old enough to say things the way they are.
“We don’t want any group within the APC. It is an insult. We are just going into elections period and we should stop insulting our candidate.
Thanking thousands of APC members who came out to show their support for his governorship aspiration, Prince Dapo Abiodun urged the people to see themselves as one united family and should therefore work assiduously for the victory of APC in 2019 general elections.
