The acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, former president Olusegu Obasanjo and other notable leaders have paid tributes to the legacies of former head of state, the late General Murtala Muhammed, at the 2017 Murtala Muhammed Memorial Lecture which held in Abuja on Monday, February 13.
The event was organized by the Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF), a non-governmental organisation founded on the ideals of the Late General Murtala Muhammed and committed to improving the lives of Nigerians and Africans, especially those challenged by the menace of natural disasters and insecurity. The MMF is also a refuge of empowerment and rehabilitation.
Osinbajo, who was the special guest of honour spoke to an audience, which had, in attendance, Diplomats, corporate chieftains, leading politicians, Religious leaders, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and other major stakeholders in the humanitarian sector.
The acting president told the audience that “What we need is a new Nigeria where men and women are prepared to put the national enterprise first. As has been re-echoed by the earlier speakers, this is what Murtala Muhammed lived for.”
