Okowa’s  aide, Ngozi  killed by gunmen in Delta community

Governor  Ifeanyi  Okowa of Delta State  aide,  Lawrence  Akpomiemie  a.k.a  Ngbozi  was  killed on February 15 by gunmen  in  Ekpan Community  in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.

This is not unconnected to the clash between the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC in Effurun which has led to the death of many souls in recent times.

The deceased, Lawrence Akpomiemie who is the Special Assistant to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa  on Youth Development  was said to  be returning from an outing in his Toyota Camry with Registration Number: EFR 965 SN with his girlfriend (name unknown) on Friday night when the gunmen ambushed him.

He was  said to have been shot severally on his chest by the gunmen who watched him breathe  his last before they deserted the scene after they have riddled  his vehicle with bullets.

At the time  of filling this reports,  It was not clear if Ngozi’s girlfriend was also killed at the scene.

The incident has caused serious tension in the area as security operatives particularly soldiers took over the community for the fear of the breakdown of law and order as the loyalists to  Ngozi may want to avenge his death.

Although, no arrests have been made, the remains of Governor’s aid  is still lying on a major road in Ekpan Community.

When contacted, the Ekpan Community Chairman, Barr. Innocent Onyekachi Akpotedja-Adjenughure confirmed the death to  Nigerian NewsDirect. The message reads in parts  thus:

“Yes. He was assassinated yesterday. No details yet.” Also reacting to the development, the  Delta State Acting Police Public Relations, ASP Oriseweje Chuks  said,”I am still investigating the matter’ saying he wants to  reach the DPO and get back to the press.”

On his part, the Delta State Commissioner for Informa-tion, Mr. Patrick Ukah said, “Am far away in Asaba now. I will find out. I don’t know yet. Let me find out.”

Also, the Chief Press Secretary to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa Mr.  Ehiedu  Charles Aniagu said he was yet get the details but promised to get it thereafter give feedback.

It would be recalled that some powerful politicians in Delta State facilitated the release of the late Ngozi who was known to be notorious from the Ogwashi-Uku prison  before he was appointed by Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa.
