The Ogun State Government says it will ensure the completion of all the 21 ongoing Ogun standard roads estimated at about 357.11km and other infrastructural facilities for the advancement of socio-economic advancement of State.
The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite, disclosed this while defending the 2018 budget estimates of his Ministry before members of the Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon. Akanbi Bankole.
Adegbite said that the State Government was committed to ensuring even development of all parts of the State through massive infrastructural upgrade, including the construction of additional 500km durable asphalt roads in major towns across the State.
The Commissioner pointed out that the Ministry would commence the process of establishment of one asphalt plant and a functional material testing laboratory, while existing Vehicle Inspection Offices would get computerized vehicle testing centres for improved service delivery.
He assured that the Ministry would put in place well integrated safe grades of durable road networks, saying that it would put in place 18 river crossings and overhead bridges, assuring that in the next fiscal year, the Ministry was poised to reduce the response time of the State to fire services by providing more modern fire-fighting equipment.
Adegbite added that the Ministry would introduce a Rapid Intervention Vehicle with high pressure fire forging system at fire services sub stations.
Defending the a total budget estimates of N39.441B, the Commissioner explained that the sum of N 38.99B out of the total was earmarked for capital expenditure; while the remaining N445m was meant for capital projects, with expected revenue put at N345.4m.
