Ogun Police foil robbery operation, arrest 3 suspects

Ogun State police command has successfully foiled a robbery operation at Golden Heritage Estate in Mowe Area of Obafemi Owode local government area of the state.

The robbers who came to the Estate at about 3pm in a lorry were armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.

Moreover, the robbers attacked the four security guards on duty before tying them with ropes, after which they packed iron rods worth millions of naira into their lorry.

Luck however ran against them when a distress call was made to Mowe divisional headquarters, consequent upon which the DPO CSP Francis Ebhuoma led his anti robbery team to the scene and engaged the robbers in gun duel.

The team succeeded in demobilising the lorry and got two members of the gang namely Monsuru Mukaila and Abdulahi Ogundiya arrested while others escaped with weapons.

The arrested two later led the policemen to where one Saheed Ishola, the gang leader was arrested.

The lorry loaded with iron rod was recovered from the scene, and the injured security men were taken to hospital for medical attention.

Ogun state Commissioner of police CP Ahmed Iliyasu commended the efforts of the police men.

He however ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Anti robbery section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department Eleweran for further investigation.

The CP equally directed that the fleeing members of the gang be brought to book.
