Ogun APC primaries: Dapo Abiodun denies bribery allegations

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

Ogun state governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, (APC) for 2019 general elections, Prince Dapo Abiodun has declared that there was never a time he did anything to compromise or induce monetarily any official of the party either from the state or national to influence the primaries that produced him as the governorship candidate of the party.

The billionaire oil magnate gave this clarifications in a statement issued by the Media Director of his campaign organisation, Emmanuel Ojo and made available to journalists on Friday.

The statement explained that the clarifications became necessary following a publication by one popular online medium alleging that Prince Dapo Abiodun gave substantial amount of money to the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole to influence his emergence as the governorship candidate of the party for Ogun state

Prince Abiodun described this allegation as baseless, unfounded and figment of imagination of peddlers of the rumour commending the strict, fair and incorruptible nature and dispositions of Adams Oshiomole led leadership of the ruling party.

The statement says “We wish to state unequivocally, that Prince Dapo Abiodun does not believe in a compromised process and at no time was any party official either from the state, regional or national level given any money by Prince Dapo Abiodun to influence the peaceful and legitimate governorship primaries in Ogun State”.

“We wish to state further that this allegation is a figment of the imagination of those making the claims while we continue to commend the strict, fair and incorruptible nature of the Comrade Adams Oshiomole leadership”.

“Finally, we advise the general public to discountenance this propaganda against Prince Dapo Abiodun as there is no iota of truth in the apparently sponsored report which is targeted at blackmailing him and putting in jeopardy his political aspiration”.
