The Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, Nigeria, played host to a record‐breaking attendance for the 2nd year in succession. With over 2,700 visitors and delegates from more than 40 countries around the world, the 20th anniversary of this
prestigious event was well received, and plans for the 2017 event to take place in Lagos have already begun.

The Opening Plenary was followed by a special award presented to Mr. Bayo Ojulari, Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) as thank you for 20 years of support for the Offshore West Africa event. The official opening of the 2016 Exhibition took place via a ribbon cutting by the Speakers of the Opening Plenary Session, joined by Mr. Glenn Ensor, Managing Director, PennWell International.
After the official opening, a Panel Discussion took place on the topic of “Investing in Africa”. As part of this panel discussion were Ms. Rolake Akinkugbe, VP & Head, Energy & Natural Resources, FBN Capital, Nigeria and Mr. David M. Rennie,International Sector Head – Oil & Gas, Thermal Generation and Carbon Capture and Storage, Scottish Enterprise, United
Kingdom. Over the 3 days, the two‐track conference schedule included many interesting and informative sessions, including a number of industry critical topics such as Subsea Technology, Sustainable Development, Asset Integrity, Deepwater
Projects, Field Development, Flowlines & Pipelines, Deepwater Trends & Challenges, Major Project Management, Production Optimization, and Regional Trends & Challenges.
A further Panel Discussion on the topic of Strategies for Local, Regional and International Collaboration and Effective Local Content Delivery took place on Thursday 28th January, and included lively debate from the panelists who included Mr. Jide Jadesimi, Executive Director – Business Development, LADOL, Nigeria; Mr. Kwaku Boateng, Director of Special Services, Petroleum Commission, Ghana; Mr. Tosin Yusuff, Country Director – Nigeria, African Energy Association; Mr. Chiedu Oba, General Manager, Nigerian Content Development & SPDC CP Manager, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of

The three‐day Exhibition as part of Offshore West Africa comprised of both prominent local and international organizations, displaying their latest products, services, technologies and industry innovations, including Ariosh, Chevron, DNV GL, JC
International, Richardson Oil & Gas, Royal IHC, SNEPCo, TOTAL E&P, Westfield Subsea and many more. Registration to attend the Exhibition is still available onsite at The Eko Hotel & Suites throughout the event.
For the second year in a row, Offshore West Africa included a continuous professional development (CPD) program, supported by the Energy Institute Nigeria. This Initiative is part of PennWell Corporation’s and Offshore West Africa‘s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy to help with the West African region’s objective of developing a fully sustainable sector.
As part of the collaboration between Offshore West Africa and the Energy Institute Nigeria and Lonadek, a Youth Empowerment Programme is also being held for the duration of the event for a selected group of students andyoung professionals to attend the exhibition and listen to presentations from various local and international companies.
This programme was sponsored by the Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bioenterprise Development, and the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, including Opening Remarks from Dr. Reuben Jaja, Chairman of the NDSTB.
The 20th anniversary event was then brought to an end, with the Closing Ceremony, where Mr. David Paganie, Conference Director, PennWell Corporation announced the return of Offshore West Africa to The Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos on 24‐26 January 2017 for the 21st annual conference and exhibition.
