The Provost, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Dr Samuel Akintunde has charged the students of the college to obey all rules and regulations of the institution to enable them have a happy and fruitful stay on campus.
Dr Akintunde gave the charge at the weekend while addressing the students of the institution during the matriculation ceremony held for newly admitted students.
About 3,500 students were admitted to various degree programmes at the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, which is an affiliate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife.
Specifically, the provost warned female students of the institution against indecent dressing, stressing that the institution has zero tolerance for immoralty.
Dr Akintunde said the management of the institution will not hesitate to withdraw any student engaged in cultism and other vices, saying that the college is peaceful and will not allow any individual to rubbish its good reputation.
He also enjoined the students to strive for excellence and maintain good behaviour throughout their period of studentship in the institution.
Also speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU),
Ile-Ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunmodede said the university will continue to provide moral and academic assistance for the college since it is affiliated to the university and urged the students to be good ambassadors of the university.
Ogunmodede who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education in the University, Professor Adeleke Ademola, lamented the high rate of drug abuse among youths, however warned the students against consumption of hard drugs which he said are harmful to their health.
He urged the students to contribute their quota to national development through commitment and dedication to the ideals of good governance and social responsibilities.
Some of the matriculants who spoke with journalists expressed their happiness for being among the lucky ones chosen by the institution.
They however promised to be of good behaviour and concentrate on their studies in order to come out as good ambassadors of the College
