NPA launches RIMS to ease means of doing business

The Nigerian Ports Authority over the weekend launched the Revenue and Invoice Management System (RIMS) a customer portal that will improve both revenue generation and Ports operations using real time modernmethods and techniques.

Speaking, at the Go-live and launch of the (RIMS)  the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman said that the platform is a fully convergence system which helps to integrate business in the Ports Industry through the use of internet-based devices.

Explaining this to stakeholders, she said “the customer portal is fully convergent and real time platforms for our processes. “These platforms fully integrate the electronic flow of information for business-to- business streams real-time, with higher availability and flexible architecture.

Hadiza Bala Usman pointed out that as ever desired by NPA’s Management, RIMS would block revenue leakages among transparent operational procedures which would not only strengthen the processes of operation but emphasize the exclusion of unnecessary human interface in doing business at the Ports.

According to her, “the introduction of this system will improve our service offering, improve our partner relationship, create efficient payment method maximize revenue and eradicate loss associated with fraud and revenue leakage.

 ”This will further provide a platform for our clients to fast track transactions at the Ports and communicate with Management seamlessly She said that this will further enhance progress on the Single Window Platform with strategic automation in conjunction with the Nigerian Customs Service. Usman added that the event is aimed to further reposition the organization for improved operational efficiency.

“And it is my belief that through increased automation with application like this greater transparency and efficiency will be achieved and ease of doing business will be a reality”, she said.

Speaking earlier the Executive Director Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello Koko highlighted the fact that the platform would enhance profitably and assure uniform tariff rates across all Port locations. He said the user friendly portal would also enhance accuracy and completeness of documentation.

Also speaking during the event, the Executive Director Marine and Operations, Dr. SokonteHuttin Davies called for sustained synergy among stakeholders with information sharing being the theme in order to achieve milestones in the sector.

According to him, excellence is the target and all hands must be on deck to attain that status. He further said “together we shall make things work”.

It will be recalled that NPA launched the introductory platform of RIMS in 2015 which was embraced by stakeholders.
